Backpacking & Yoga Fall 2017

 - Hello Adventure-Seeking Women -

Oct 21-22nd

Have you ever wanted to backpack? Camp overnight in the wilderness? Cook food over a campfire? Set up a tent? Sleep under the stars?  Listen to the magnified sounds of the wild that are present when completely engulfed in nature?  Maybe you are looking for an opportunity to unplug from everyday demands and routine, set aside all of your devices and deeply connect back to yourself through the avenue of nature, nurturing food, and the company of other women. This is a great opportunity for you if you aren't quite sure where to start or just want to get back in the woods.

This fall, we invite you to turn that curiosity into knowledge with a two day, one night trip into the wildreness at Cane Creek Canyon. (25 miles from Florence, AL)

Learn everything about the exciting and challenging sport of backpacking while meeting and working together with other amazing women. You will learn empowering skills to turn fear into confidence!

On this women’s (only) adventure, you will learn all the steps needed to become a proficient backpacker. You will have the skills to back pack in many parts of the world. This trip is suitable for BEGINNERS and all level backpackers.

The skills you will learn and take away are endless, but here are a few:

  • -- learn what to pack and not to pack
  • --- learn the method of how to pack   and how to wear your pack for the most comfort
  • -- learn how to use gear and what to do in the event that things don't go as planned-weather changes, etc
  • -- learn how to identify wild plants,
  • -- basics on women’s hygiene
  • -- "leave no trace" practice
  • -- basics of emergency preparedness in the woods
  • -- learn how to prepare a camp site--setting up a tent, how to pick a site, how to start a fire, cook healthy foods in the wilderness

We'll begin with a brief, mandatory class on backpacking two weeks before the trip
(to make sure everyone has the correct gear and answer questions) and then learn through applying those skills in real life with a two day, one night backpacking trip. Class will be on October 14th 1-3pm.

Ashley Baker Haselton of Ashley Baker Yoga will offer 2 yoga classes suitable for all levels. There will be a guided meditation on Sunday morning, and then time for you to be alone in meditation, silence, or journaling before breakfast. The sweetness of morning in the wilderness is something to experience. If you have ever been to one of Ashley's classes you will soon find that anything can happen--singing, dancing, laughing--but ALWAYS a journey of connecting with yourself, igniting truth & creativity within, and a deep breathing and relaxation.

The last time that I checked (about 1 week ago) I was the only one who had registered for the backpacking event. Do you anticipate more reservations. Will you cancel if I am the only one?
